I know, I know: this blog post is LONG overdue. I just kept waiting to post something until I felt like I had something worthwhile to say. Sure, I would get an idea, but then I would just brush it off because it wasn’t good enough, or think I have to do step 1, 2, and 3 before I can write and share it with you.
Right now, I am sitting at a Starbucks reflecting on the past of couple months, and I have this overwhelming gratitude wash over me. Just a fair warning: this post won’t be about finance or three ways to save money. Instead, I felt encouraged to blog about what being a good steward means to me!
To me, being a good steward isn’t just all about managing your money and giving to the local church. It is also managing the resources, gifts, and opportunities God has given us. Like I said, I’m sitting at a Starbucks in West Ashley, while my husband, Taylor, is meeting with a local pastor in the area.
A few years ago, Taylor started developing a desire in his heart to help local churches. Not just the one we have the incredible opportunity to work for, but to help other churches that may not have access to the same resources that we do.
I love what Psalms 34:4 says: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart”.
It feels like, over the past two months, opportunity after opportunity has opened up for our family. To have the opportunities to fulfill the desires of our hearts is such a humbling feeling. I don’t feel like we have done anything extra or even worked harder to deserve all that is happening. I even told one of my friends the other day, “I don’t understand why Taylor and I are getting blessed so much, I haven’t been keeping up with my daily devotions or even praying consistently”… hey… I am just being honest!
God has been so faithful to us, and it gives me the burning desire to manage my time better, my relationships better, and not to let the opportunities we have pass us by!
